About Surfside, California

Surfside, also known as Surfside Colony, is a small gated community located on a unique piece of land 0.7 miles long nestled along the beautiful Pacific Ocean in Orange County, California. The colony is part of the city of Seal Beach, California. The southern entrance to the Surfside Colony is easy to spot by the water tower (which was built into a house) that can be seen from Pacific Coast Highway. It is a residential area with approximately 260 single-family homes. The homes are arranged in three rows, A, B, and C, and include an eclectic range of styles from older single-story cottages to newer multi-story architectural wonders. No home in the colony is more than 75 feet from the beach.
Originally founded in 1929 and incorporated as a non-profit corporation in 1930, the colony has a casual beach culture that values diversity and community. The location is a popular spot for wind and kitesurfing. Other favorite beach activities include surfing, fishing, and just sitting and enjoying the sun and sea air.

One of the landmarks of little Surfside is Taco Surf, a tiki / Mexican restaurant where you’ll find a full cocktail bar, affordable meals, a casual atmosphere, and live entertainment on weekends.
