Beaumont is a city in Riverside County that is located at a half-mile elevation in the pass area of Southern California’s highest peak, San Gorgonio Mountain. It is also in the northern region of San Jacinto Peak.

Beaumont has an elevation of 2,500 to 3,000 above sea level. It is at the peak of San Gorgonio pass between San Bernandino and Palm Springs. The city has a total area of 30.9 square miles,99% of which is land, and 0.04% is water.

The climate in the city averages up to 95 degrees Fahrenheit during summer and 38 degrees Fahrenheit during the winter. With its higher elevation, the city is usually 5 to 10 degrees cooler than its neighboring cities.

The 2010 Census states that the city has a population of 37,000. It has a population density of 1,192.4 people per square miles.
