About Mira Mesa, California

Mira Mesa is a neighborhood in San Diego, California that has a population of 86,910. Mira Mesa stretches from the I-805 in the west and I-15 to the east. The southern border is the northern border of MCAS Miramar and the railroad tracks in the southwest corner. The north boundary is the Penasquitos Canyon Preserve.

Mira Mesa is considered to be one of the best places to live in California. It offers residents a dense, suburban feel, and most of the residents here own their homes.

Around the time of World War 2, Mira Mesa was once used as a test area of the United States Army. Just west of the U.S. Route 395(now I-15) is the Navy Auxiliary field. The Navy also used the surrounding area as a bombing range.

In 1969, there was a housing boom in the area, and now it extends to I-15 freeway on the east and I-805 on the west. It is approximately 10,500 acres. Mira Misa was one of the earliest urban sprawls along I-15.

Mira Mesa is mostly influenced by the military located at the NAS Miramar. Mira Mesa was once considered as the real community of San Diego and was separated from the rest of the city by NAS Miramar for many years. For 30 years, the Navy’s Top Gun School was located here, and Mira Mesa is where the pilots found their homes.
