About Cathedral City, California

Cathedral City, or colloquially known as Cat City, is a city in Riverside County. The name of the city comes from Cathedral Canyon, which is located to the south of the city foothills of Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument. The canyon was named in 1850 by U.S Colonel Henry Washinton as he says the canyon resembles that of the cathedral.

Cathedral City has more than 50,000 residents. It has a significantly higher population than its neighboring cities, making it the largest city in the Western Valley. The city is made up of a diverse tapestry of neighborhoods. Each has its unique style and history but shares the same character and identity.

Cathedral City is home to Coachella Valley’s distinctive activities. The city has world-class ice rinks, league-style baseball fields, and soccer fields. Its athletic facilities draw sports athletes and enthusiasts from around the nation.
