South El Monte is a vibrant and thriving community, located in the heart of the San Gabriel Valley, just minutes from downtown Los Angeles. It was incorporated into a city in 1958 and is now home to more than 20,000 residents.
Throughout the early years after South El Monte’s incorporation, the city, through community efforts, won various national awards, including the “All America City” award in 1975. And eventually, the city took on the nickname “The City of Achievement” for its early successes in civil efforts, despite having a high crime and high school dropout rate at the time.
South El Monte is a tight knit community, which offers a diverse age of residents with the same dedication and spirit that the City was founded upon.
