Today, Brea is an important retail center because of the large Brea Mall and the recently redeveloped Brea Downtown.

Brea is also known for its extensive public art program. This program began in 1975, and it continues up to this day. Today, the city has over 140 collections of artworks that are placed and located throughout the city.
