About Banning, California

The City of Banning is located at the back of Interstate 10 between the Inland Empire and the Coachella Valley in San Gorgonio Pass. It has a total area of 23.1 square miles, all of it land. Its elevation is 700m above sea level, which gives it a colder climate compared to its neighboring cities. The city has a population of 27,000, according to the 2010 census.

The City is incorporated in 1913 and has a rich and colorful history. Initially, Banning served as a stagecoach and railroad stop between Arizona and Los Angeles. The name of the city is named after Phineas Banning, stagecoach, and the Father of the Port of Los Angeles.
