About Temecula, California

Temecula is a city in Southern California known for Temecula Valley Wine Country, hillside vineyards, and many golf courses. The city is located 58 miles north of downtown San Diego and 85 miles southeast of Downtown Los Angeles. The city has a population of 114,800 as of 2011.

Temecula has a total land area of 38 square miles, of which 37.27 is land and 0.012 square miles is water. In the south of the city, Murrieta Creek and Temecula Creek join to form the Santa Margarita River.

At the heart of Temecula is the Old Town District. This place blends historic buildings with more than 600 antique dealers, shopping centers, and restaurants. Old Town District is home to many special events like car shows, western days, and summer weekend entertainment.

Temecula has great weather to go out for a hike on the Santa Rosa Plateau Preserve or enjoy a day of boating and fishing at Lake Skinner. The site is also home to the annual Balloon and Wine Festival.

The climate in Temecula helps to produce award-winning wines. The 1,500-foot elevation makes for delightful breezes and cool summer nights.
