San Juan Capistrano (Spanish for “Saint John of Capestrano”) is a city in Orange County, California, United States. Located near the Pacific coast, it lies halfway between San Diego and Los Angeles. The current Office of Management and Budget metropolitan designation for San Juan Capistrano and the Orange County area is Santa Ana–Anaheim–Irvine, CA. The population was 34,593 at the 2010 census.
Officially incorporated as a city in 1961, San Juan Capistrano is a historic cultural center full of art, music and charm. From the beautiful Mission San Juan Capistrano and historic Los Rios Street to the city’s vibrant downtown district, the City of San Juan Capistrano offers an abundance of historical, entertaining and unique attractions for both its visitors and locals.
